Haven't been around for a while but figured I would drop in and see who all was still posting...

I see some things haven't changed and some of the crew are still certifiable.

What's the temperature around here, seem kind of dead.

-Is History Man still herding the HoopLoopers? (Do they still exist?)
-Laffy still houghing Sherwin Williams products?
-cooker haunted by the ghost of mole/minnhoosier's? RIP

I see IUFLA and UKSUX still plugging away... hope all is well

Heller, tell Sunny hello...

Haunted by mole??? lol  God forbid, although that could make for some interesting events in my life!

Nah, I spend all of my time stalking laffy at the SN forum -- according to him, that is.  He has been through 4-5 new IDs with 5000+ posts per in the last couple of months before they got banned.

I come over here sparingly as there is not a lot of activity, but I don't spend that much time on the SN forums any more.  I spend as much time over there tweakin the pukes as I do on the IU side.  I REALLY miss the good old days on the old forum when there was both IU talk and smak talk abounding.

Everybody obviously has either gotten real busy or lost interest in posting. I've been mostly busy but have also gotten bored with the boards, which is sure to happen when activity drops way down on the main contributors. It's all sort of a snowball effect.

It's more than likely too late to try a board overhaul at this point, and there is probably nobody willing to change the board format but I've always thought there were too many individual sub-boards on this forum. Why not just create one new one to be used for all new posts and lock down the others read-only? If anybody wanted to reply to an old post they could always hyperlink to it and/or copy and paste. It sure couldn't hurt and might be the spark needed to generate some interest. I personally think the current format is way too cumbersome and it takes too much effort to try find interesting material... Maybe I'm just getting lazy.

I could count on one hand the amount of times I've visited the StarNews board in the last six months. Talk about a gruelingly cumbersome board to navigate. The board format has been trash ever since it went to Pluck quite awhile back. When you've got a fast broadband connection and a fairly quick computer and it still takes that much time to load a page, that's a big problem. I have no idea how many of the old regulars still post over there but from what little I've seen, I don't think there are more than a few. I'd be surprised to find out History Stanley CageFanatic is there.

To all that are still around, occasionally browsing and infrequently posting, hope all is well.

Well, the true stalkers are benchy and Swampy.  95% of their posts are nothing more than following me around lie a lost puppy crying, "You're a loser."

No exaggeration.

Then, either one person or several of you, create other names and just chase me all over the place.

It's gotta be Tonto because this loser just repeats the same old crap he did on here.

That dude is eaten up with obsession over a guy he thinks is the biggest loser on earth.

Fucking HILARIOUS.

Hey -- don't forget me, tim -- you know you always claim I am stalking you, and yet I always seem to be just responding to you when you claim I am stalking you.  It is quite ironic, don't you think?  Oooops!   My bad -- thinking and you never seem to be in the same hemisphere.

Yeah, I am better -- thanks for asking.  I will never get over being the prematurely "old" man that I am! lol  The Aortal bi-fem bypass that I had last June has helped my circulation immensely.  I can actually walk further than a city block now, and I actually ran for a short distance this fall.  I am going to take up softball umpiring again for the first time in two years (I miss pissing people off in real life, too, as well as on these forums! lol).

If I could only find a way to reverse the neuropathy that I endure due to my diabetes, I would be much happier -- not to mention the money I would save on codeine and neurontin. lol

Again, thanks for asking -- hope all of you all are well as well.

The Star News board is just such a hot mess.  I post there occasionally but it is hard to mantain a steady level of interest.  Too many sockpuppet trolls.

As far as this board goes I'd love to post more but the activity level is just so dead, it is hard to stay interested.  I check in maybe once a month at least and most of the time I struggle to find more than one thread with a recent post.  I dunno, I kind of liked our little community of veteran SNails but maybe real life and boredom have thinned us out a bit much.

Yes, I would enjoy posting here if there were more activity -- with a caveat:  If I have to wade through an endless trough of laffy slop, I can do without.  The one "good" thing about the SN board is that he was concentrating his madness on the religion/politics board.

Well that goes without saying that page after page of Laffy madness does us little good.   :U

I'm bored.  Maybe I will tease #1boiler about spilled popcorn again.

I recently visited the SN board, and it's boring.  I also hate the response time when navigating.  It sucks.

There are only three posters that I recognize - wharfrat, cooker, and Laffy.  I've been gone so long that I can't tell the other players without a scorecard!

My SN participation pretty much ended right after they went to Pluck. That's got to be the worst forum format that they could have possibly went to. Doesn't matter if you have a fast computer and connection- navigation is brutal. I honestly do not even remember my login and password or if it still works.

I totally agree that it doesn't help any (as in here) that the old regulars we had always enjoyed bantering with, have for the most part gone onto other things and have basically dropped off the boards.

Creaning up IU

Obviously, I don't get around much anymore (props to Nat).

I don't post much because I don't have much to say anymore.  It's not like the old days when there was a civil war going on within the IU community.  I think, but could be wrong, that we all just want to get back on track and become a national player again.

Personally, it has been a time of change for the wisdave family.  My son got a divorce a couple of years ago, has met a new (much more compatible) woman, and will finish his doctorate next year here at UW.  Our daughter also had a marriage that didn't take, and moved back in with us this past January until she gets her feet back on the ground.

She brought with her the love of our lives - our only grandson. It's completely changed our lives - in a good way.  I could write for hours about what it means to see things through a toddler's (13 month) eyes again, but you don't want to wade through that.  It's just one of the major reasons I don't spend time on any board anymore.

I took a few moments this morning to catch up a bit, because my wife has him out in Vegas visiting his father.  That's part of the agreement between him and my daughter.  The boy has to see his father every two months.  Seems my daughter didn't want to go this time.  She and I sure miss the little buzzard this weekend.

Take care all.  Cooker, in particular.  I wish all the best.

And, yeah, Vegas.  She lived there 5 years, we visited often, and I never once tried to look up Laffy.  8)

I'm surprised you can recognize me...I just play the role of the grumpy old poster anymore.  Most of the stuff posted there is so inane I can't even bother (or figure out how) to respond.  I really need to break my habit of even going there, but since I do check the Star's sport pages daily, it's difficult not to take a peek.  Somebody really did sell them a load of shit with Pluck, for sure.  I understand what they're trying to do with it, but the application itself sucks, for all the reasons listed above.

Good to hear, Cook.  Although things aren't perfect for you...you seem to be doing better.

My dad had a couple of strokes earlier this year and was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's.  The strokes have made the natural progression speed up immensely.  It's a sad freaking disease.  On the days he isn't "well" he is a bear to keep up with...on the days he is well...he's depressed as he knows he isn't quite right.

I'm not looking forward to getting old.  Life moves on much too quickly.  Take care of yourself.

All the best.
