It’s been a big couple years for Nick’s English Hut.

A year ago, Barack Obama showed up.

Now, Playboy.com is honoring the Kirkwood Avenue establishment, calling it one of the Top 10 College Sports Bars in the country...Nick’s is one of three bars from Big Ten towns to make the cut. Bars at the University of Wisconsin in Madison and Ohio State University in Columbus also made the list...

“Opened by a Greek immigrant in 1927, the bar has evolved over time from a comfy hangout into ground zero for IU sports action,” the site says. “flatscreens, taxidermy and memorabilia line the many rooms, and so do memories.”

The site also gives patrons at the top bars a shout-out: “Their patrons are knowledgeable, loyal and, when it comes to their school’s team, quite possibly insane.”

I MAY have been on the Greek island where "Nick" originated.  I have a picture from my summer in Europe from the island of Paros that shows a sign of a "bar" on the island named Nick's.  I never investigated, but I always thought that the "font" on the Greek island bar looked very similar to the lettering on the Nick's sign in B-ton.

Hopefully I have done this correctly.  This is Nick's on the Island of Paros.  Don't know how clearly you can see it, but it says Meet Me At Nick's Restaurant and Trading Post.

Maybe one of these days I will take the pic over to Nick's in B-ton and ask if it is the same owner.http://www.flickr.com/photos/rekooc/3950828355/

The link works, but I cannot get the img feature to work.
